It is wedding season in Nepal. One of my first cousins just got married, along with my other cousin to whom I'm not sure how I'm related to. But that's the beauty of it; you are in a fancy party hall with about a thousand people to whom you know you're somehow related and hence show respect and smile...or try to. Okay, Nepali weddings are more than this. I explored the different ways of interaction between people during the weddings I attended. I wanted to capture not just here-is-what-happens-in-a-wedding-wedding but also express here-is-how-it-feels-like. In this series, I have worked on intimate portraits and contrasted them with traditional group pictures during customary interactions. I've seen more clearly than ever, the warmth within close-knit Nepali families helping each other out in such a huge family event. However, it is also crystal to me, the flipside of this. Closeness involves social obligations and expectations that bring about drama, which could very well break up the close-knit communities. It's a balance that our community has still to find.

This is my first time capturing pictures for a specific event. Also, first series with people as the main focus. I wanna do portraits for my next "project". So I'm trying. Comments are much appreciated!
